I just watched Calling Tokyo on stream. Sealed/draft format.

In this top 8 the pairings were 1v3, 2v8, 5v6, 4v7.
Normally the pairings are 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5.

Were these random pairings?
(I know that a player gets paired against the directly opposite player in the draft, but I thought that just meant that you would seat seed 1 opposite seed 8 and so on and then still keep the pairings as 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5)

If they are indeed random seatings/pairings, are random pairings generally used in limited event top 8s?
(I assume that constructed events are still 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5)

((1v8)v(4v5))v((2v7)v(3v6)) are correct for constructed events. For limited events, where top8 is in draft, seating on the pod should be random to eliminate potential collusion. After generating random seating for top8 pod, then you should pair player across ((1v5)v(3v7))v((2v6)v(4v8)) (where n is draft seat number, not position after swiss)

I thought gem automatically assigned seating based on swiss standings?
