I record 3-4 chord guitar ditti's and play them back in a loop selection to practice scales or lead for any give key, I don't ever export the loop to its own track because its seems unnecessary but I save the project and only sometimes does the save retain the loop selection and other times the loop is completely different or missing entirely.. cant figure out what I am doing wrong.

Just recreate the loop, it takes like 3 seconds to just select your audio again and press loop playback.

Not necessarily but I'm not sure that retaining a loop after closing audacity is possible.

It is possible, I have several other saves that retain the loop selection within the save but it seems to be random as to which ones.. saving directly doesn't seem to be the cause of retention.
