This started from me just wanting to get my computer's local files to have the same volume as spotify songs when playing them through the app. I figured it would be simple, but right now I'm so confused.
I started by recording the Spotify app using loopback, as I thought that would give me the volume I needed to match. I also checked the RMS by using "Analyze RMS" and the peak dB by opening the "Amplify" tool and seeing what it listed for a peak of 0 dB, then I recorded both numbers.
Then to test it, I took an mp3 file I had, and used "Loudness Normalization" with the settings to normalize RMS to -9.5 and saved it. When I went into spotify, it was louder than before, but still very quiet compared to the spotify song When My Devil Rises.
After that, I decided to open a file I got from a youtuber mp3 downloader as I had never touched that file, but when playing it through spotify, it had similar volume to When My Devil Rises, and I saw that it constantly hit the top of the dB meter on the side.
Then I had the idea to download When My Devil Rises with a spotify to mp3 downloader. I opened it and saw that it was almost always at the max height of the side bar.
So now I am just confused. I no longer have any idea of what anything does or how to get what I want, which was just for my local files to play at the same volume as native ones on Spotify.
