Hello o/
I never had issues with audacity on archlinux, until lately... few months..?

Sometimes it launches, sometimes it does not, more often the latter.

Tried arch package along with an appimage, result is the same, there's a splash screen/logo, and nothing else, when clicked, splash vanishes, nothing happens, processes of each are still there, but nothing else.

Tried launching it from terminal to possibly see some errors, but nay, nada, nothing!
Normally I'd see it re-scanning plugins quite a lot, but its windows would actually show up, along with the scan progress, which I could cancel and the GUI was there.

Can you please help me out, at the very least how to get some verbose logs so I could see what makes it hang in the background as a process with no GUI?

I had similar issue on my old os, also arch, but I got it freshly reinstalled lately, and it worked for a bit, and completely died again, it was never a thing prior..

I'm sorry if that's some well-known issue, I've looked and didn't find any of regular hidden folders

Windows guy here. Have you tried rebooting? If you have "hung" Audacity process, starting it again simply gooses the existing proecess. You could try killing the existing process.

Hi Jademan, thanks for a quick reply, reboot might indeed be a solution, processes I've killed and restarted over and over, with not luck unfortunately

#

Will try rebooting I guess; tho I'd really love to get some tips how to actually catch and report the issue, I've loved audacity for years, don't want it to have the reboot issues haha 🙂

Unfortunately, with no luck, after rebooting not even the splash screen appears anymore

Then I would try renaming this folder: ~/.audacity-data/. I don't generally delete it on the off-chance it something useful in it.

Nope, removed all audacity data, nothing there unfortunately
