I was flashing 4.5 zulu with the 10.10 RC configurator and after updating my configuration (loading from file) the board goes back into DFU mode and I'm not able to inspect the configuration any longer.

After flashing you have too disconnect and reconnect the usb

I tried that and it's interesting that on a second quad that I flashed to 4.5 Zulu I didn't need to disconnect the USB cable and it works as expected after flashing and loading the backup.
