This is plastic or aluminum case? 👀
Plastic
What do you think about the kzzi k20? 👀
Got too used to a full keyboard layout and want a nunpad 😅
I literally bought the cheapest on with hot-swap off Amazon and just repainted
#1071070910989209661 message
painted it while I was doing your Keeb
still use it when I don't want to pull out a 100% keyboard
very convenient to be able to store a small numpad in a drawer next to my desk and pull it out as needed
cool plush behind keyboard
Thanks! from Game Grumps :P
What's the update? Or just a new photo?
Forgot to ask last time, is that a Corsair K65?
Not sure who Chanz is, but congrats on the build, beautiful
She runs the discord and reddit 👀
I'm clueless
Corsair server
Oh, I'm not part of that server
I'm mostly active in there 😅
Noctua color scheme
One tech server is enough for me
couple of keyboard updates, starting with finally completing my Razer Hello Kitty collab set:
the seller ended up sending a keychain and some Razer red envelopes
as part of the 50th anniversary, there are these novelty keycaps to swap onto the standard Hello Kitty BlackWidow:
And the mouse completes the 50th anniversary set:
and this is the standard mouse (DeathAdder) and mouse pad (Goliathus)
haven't opened a keyboard this awful in a while:
swapping in the 50th anniversary keycaps to reveal soldered Razer Green switches:

the typing experience was awful, and the keyboard sounds like a kid's toy: https://youtu.be/f5CxyL5MDXM
Did a quick 1-minute typing test and smashed all the stabilized keys on the Rzer BlackWidow Sanrio Hello Kitty keyboard.
Board: Razer BlackWidow Sanrio Hello Kitty
Switches: Razer Green
Keycaps: Doubleshot ABS
I did manage to type perfectly
but I was quickly reminded what a "normal" keyboard feels and sounds like
second fun keyboard this for tonight was throwing on the Emerald Green transparent keycaps:
the keycaps looks so good on top of the Beer switches:
unfortunately, despite being a big keycap set, there were no extra keycaps for the 4 keys above the numpad:
ended up pulling some keycaps from a Mahjong set that I've purchased recently:

finally, the typing test: https://youtu.be/yDwQVYUvLt0
Did a quick 1-minute typing test and smashed all the stabilized keys with a Ducky One 3 keyboard after swapping taking the keycaps and switches.
Board: Ducky One 3 Aura Clear White
Switches: Gateron Beer
Keycaps: Redqin PC Green Emerald Transparent Cherry Profile
the Ducky board sounds soooo good
the Beer switches' tactile feedback was so light that I was basically typing on linear switches
I really don't recommend getting the Beer switches
What do you mean by that?
Don‘t mind the difference tbh, both look clean
SK75 is a full aluminum keyboard and currently priced at $100 for some colors
and the M75 is a plastic case, currently priced at $70
both are pretty good entry level 75% keyboards
Probably would go with the Sk75
for the more traditional 80% TKL layout
hard to beat the C1 Pro:
plastic case
and probably the best price aluminum is the Galaxy80: https://epomaker.com/products/epomaker-feker-galaxy80
Robust Elegance-Full Aluminum Alloy Shell Crafted for those who demand both strength and elegance, the Galaxy80’s metal exterior promises enduring quality and a modern, minimalist appeal. The solid aluminum build not only withstands daily wear and tear but also provides a steady, reassuring base for every keystroke.
I couldn't stand the super soft PC plate on the Galaxy80
but barebone for the Galaxy80 is $80
and you have 5 colors to choose from, IF you can get it in your country
so yeah, @compact rivet, that's kind of the current market for entry level custom keyboards
if you find something that's available in your country, definitely feel free to share it here
oh damn that's many
thanks for the recommandations
Got anything in like the mid level range?
just to see my options
if you say super soft, did it feel a bit spongy or something like that? not tactital
Tons, Rainy75, Nuphy has a bunch, Tide75 from Epomaker (I have 3, I'm slightly biased towards that board)
80% you have the Keychron Q3/V3 in all the different varieties
And the #⌨-keeb-tkl is definitely one too
It's very well dampened. I like hard plates because I use Tactile and Clicky switches
I think a local supplier does have keychron keyboards
The sound is more thock instead of crispy/clicky with a soft setup
Some people like thock
Especially when you have Linear switches and you're constantly bottoming out
There you go
ah Isee
from what I've tested so far, felt like I like these linear tactile switches the most
but didn't test too much
mainly just had cherry switches
any switches you'd recommand?
There are 3 main categories of switches: linear, tactile and clicky
Whatever works for you
I've been posting sound tests for my recent builds
Scroll up to hear some examples
But I personally prefer using tactile switches
It's more difficult to type accurately with linear switches as you will get a bunch of accidental key presses
Linear tends to be more geared towards gaming
And Clicky is for typing
saw a video of gateron cream soda switches
Tactiles literally covers the middle of the linear and clicky
From a really light bump tactile like the Beer switches I just installed last night
To the Box Royals that's currently on my Circuit Keeb TKL that's borderline clicky
Browns are tactile switches
aight thanks
just saw onyl 24 dollars is the shipping from Keychron
isn't too bad
Keychron has a bunch
I sometimes pay the same amount if I'm going to order in Germany
Max/Pro and everything else in between
Gets a bit overwhelming shopping on Keychron's website
tactiles my beloved
But Q-series is their full aluminum, it's going to be around $200, V-series is their plastic case version of the Q-series, parts are shared between V and Q, it's literally just a difference in case material
K is their primary/mainstream line, plastic case
C is their budget line, may not have all the features
One "problem" I see is that they don't have many white kits
I mean black is possible as well, as most of my setup is black
What size layout have you decided on?
75% or 80%?
Let's stick to 80% then
There is a slight learning curve for the 75% coming from a 100%
oh okay
Q3 Max has a Shell White barebone:
That's going to be your top of the line for Keychron (which is a "Premium Entry" level keyboard)
probably a bit too expensive I'd say
I'd more stick to the entry level for the beginning
if possible aluminium case but not necessary
C1 Pro will be the other end of the spectrum:
Unfortunately, you only have one color
But once again, you're not limited to Keychron
I've suggested a bunch above, you just have to see what is available in your region
currently checking ye
Literally search "80% keyboard" and see what pops up
Okay tbh the maximum I'd spend rn would be around 150 without the shipping
How much is a Galaxy80?
barebone kit in white is either 60 or 80 dollars
Crazy easy choice
yep
Get some nice switches
25 dollars shipping
If you're in EU, Cherry might be cheaper
Cream Soda is Linear
If you're willing to order from AliExpress, Gateron Baby Kangaroo
79 for none lubed and 100 for lubed ones
with shipping
I order from Aliexpress every two weeks haha
If you're going with a white case, something like the baby kangaroo will fit well
Building custom steering wheels so I kinda rely on all the ccutting services there for the carbon fibre
#1071070910989209661 message
And they type nice too
Top bump tactiles, the bump is up high and it's smooth linear all the way down
The normal tactile switches like Brown has a "mid-bump"
aight thanks for those recommandations
No problem!
At least you've already got the keycaps picked
so Galasy80 with Gateron baby kangaroo it is
yep hahha
Can't wait to see your build!
Order the 90 for the 80%
idk if 2 spare switches are enough
Yes
thanks
Your setup should sound very similar to the M5 that I've just linked
very nice
i re-switched a 104 last week and only mangled 1 pin, and i am both old, and blind
So @merry valley agrees that 2 extra will be enough
Somehow got myself into building a keyboard for my wife's best friend's birthday, after an extensive interview, I'm building a Q6 Max:
after ripping the keyboard apart, I swapped out the PC plate for a gold paint aluminum plate:
the aluminum plate started out as a black colored plate which I've sprayed to gold:
the Q6 after the plate swap:
ended up going with Durock White Lotus switches for this build (and a few other upcoming builds):
your standard 5-pin switch with a translucent pink top housing
there's also a light guide for these
the Q6 after the switches installation:
and tested all the switches, all 108 of they were working:
ordered a small set of Winnie the Pooh novelty keys:
the instructions were completely bogus so I've ended up throw them on as I saw fit:
the main keycap set is this Boba themed keycaps from Yunzii:
and the keycaps got throw on, after swapping some novelty keycaps around:
Keychron Q6 Max Boba/Pooh keyboarod, unlit:

and the typing test: https://youtu.be/8-9EVNqPfOU
Did a quick 1-minute typing test and smashed all the stabilized keys after building the Keychron Q6 Boba/Pooh keyboard.
Board: Keychron Q6 Max
Switches: Durock White Lotus
Keycaps: Yunzii Boba PBT Cherry Profile + Disney Winnie the Pooh novelty
the switches were quite lovely
56g actuation force felt quite good and the switches were very quiet
the keycaps themselves are well made dyb sub PBT
since the Q6 is so solid, plus the addition of the stiff metal plate, the entire keyboard sounded very pleasant
@jolly coral do u have any thoughts about one hand keyboard?
To me its looks very weird
But some people say its comfortable
no, I just know I'm not going to bother with it
nope, the 7U kit from the Emerald Green keycap set didn't work right:
almost done with my green NK87 build
ordered some new keycaps that should match better that's coming on Wednesday
good thing the next #⌨-keeb-tkl is getting here tomorrow. I'll be busy modding this new one for a couple of days
Somehow gives cyber punk vibes
it's EVA-01
I love these omg
The keycaps come in 4 colorways: https://a.co/d/73Uk7Wk
Completely impractical keycaps as the RGB completely washes out the legends
so epic
pink and emerald are just amazing
Depends
Yeah, it was a perfect match to the Beer Switches
Ye
Depends on the setup
I don't think it looked very good with a black case
Like the ones from the stock seller photos
These clear/transparent keycaps definitely looks better on a lighter colored case
something like white
Actually pink would great with light set up which is pleasing to eyes
white maybe
Finally finished processing and upload all the videos for a bunch of build
I think I've last left off with the green NK87 build
after getting a new set of pudding keycaps that matched the EVA-01 keycaps with the 7U kit:
I was able to complete the NK87 EVA-01 build, unlit:
NK87 EVA-01, lit + ambient lighting:
I really like the dual zone color scheme for the NK87, I was able to match the 2 zones to the keycaps quite well

and the typing test: https://youtu.be/e9IOglF0Yno
Did a quick 1-minute typing test and smashed all the stabilized keys after building the NovelKeys NK87 EVA-01 keyboard.
Board: NovelKeys NK87 Aluminum Edition Alien Green
Switches: KTT Matcha
Keycaps: EVA-01 PBT Dye Sub Pudding OEM Profile
the KTT Matcha switches were fairly light and the tactile bump was a little vague, but still better than linears
aside from the 7U spacebar problem, the NK87 aluminum edition was a steal
extremely solid keyboard with excellent dampening
with the brass plate swap, the sound is just perfection to my ears
I really like a nice and stiff metal plate
ack, just realized I've jumped straight to the end of the story without talking about the build process at all
here's the NK87 Aluminum Edition in Alien Green:
once again, a very simple interior:
I've had brass plates installed for my Keychron keyboards previous, and NovelKeys had the brass plates for $5, so hard to say no:
for the switches, I've gone with the KTT Matcha tactile switches:
fairly cheap 3-pin tactile switches with a light spring, nothing to really write home about, except for the perfect color match to the keyboard:
and throwing on the keycaps is where I've started today's posting
right after finish building the EVA-01 NK87, I immediately built the NK87 Aluminum Edition in "Nebula Pink":
loved that NovelKeys used different colored plates depedning on the case color; the green NK87 had a silver plate and the pink NK87 had a black plate
small details like this really makes the NK87 feel premium
I've always wanted to try copper plate, but the price is usually very expensive:
however, I was able to get the copper plate for the same $5
as the other plate materials
I used the Durock White Lotus again, just like the Keychron Q6 Pooh build (#1071070910989209661 message):
I think these are my favorite "girly" pink switches with a very clear tactile bump
it worked beautifully in this pink NK87:
ended up going with 2 sets of keycaps due to the 7U spacebar problem:
here are the pictures for the EVA-08 NK87 build, unlit:
EVA-08 NK87, lit + ambient lighting:
EVA-08 NK87, lit + no ambient lighting:
once again, very pretty 2 zone lighting that makes the white keycaps shine beautifully to support the pink keycaps
can't believe my keyboard journey began less than a year ago with the EVA-02 keycaps and keyboard from ASUS, and now I'm building custom keyboards with the trio:
anyways, ended up finding the perfect set of switches for the MU01 Mountain Seclusion keyboard that I'm planning to gift way:
they are these LTC Jerrzi Tactile switches
very lightweight at 40gf, but has a very distinct bump, unlike the Beer switches
it's a box design for the stem and 5-pin on the bottom
I was able to get this set of 70 as an open box item from Amazon, and spent $16 for them
anyways, ripped off the keycaps and crazy cheap linear switches from the MU01:
and proceeded to install these clear tactile switches in:
as expected, clear switches does wonders for the south-facing LEDs:
and threw the keycaps back on for the MU01 Mountain Seclusion, unlit:
MU01 Mountain Seclusion, lit + ambient lighting:
MU01 Mountain Seclusion, lit + no ambient lighting:
very beautiful and soft lighting under both lighting conditions
here's the video for the switch swap: https://youtu.be/MHN5wRDO7eY
4x speed video of the switch swap for the Akko MU01 Mountain Seclusion keyboard.
and the typing test: https://youtu.be/PDuXrPvRphc
Did a quick 1-minute typing test and smashed all the stabilized keys after swapping the switches on the Akko MU01.
Board: Akko MU01 Mountain Seclusion
Switches: LTC Jerrzi Tactile
Keycaps: Akko MU01 Mountain Seclusion PBT MOA Profile
I still struggled immensely with the 60% layout
the switches felt okay, but definitely on the light side
the sound profile was quite thocky as I've expected
really need to redo my MU01 Joy of Life (#1071070910989209661 message) keeb once the Ducky Year of the Dragon keyboard that I've pre-ordered arrived
the wooden case really creates a nice sound that was completely muted with a set of silent switches
ack, forgot to post the NK87 EVA-08 4x build timelapse: https://youtu.be/cT8EdZ3kDM4

while I was building these, I was in the process of modifying my 4th #⌨-keeb-tkl:
recorded a full teardown tutorial: https://youtu.be/CLAv8L1Wc-A
Finally decided to do a real tutorial on the teardown of a HYTE Keeb TKL. Please let me know if you have any questions in the comment section.

and painted the top and bottom frame + the plate:
blasted the plate with some Blue Cosmos color shifting paint and the pink pieces with some Pixie Dust that turned out to be a bust:
the color shifting and shimmering effect is so much greater with the Blue Cosmos
while the paint was drying, I cut and applied vinyls to the acrylic case:
here's the 4x timelapse of the vinyl application process: https://youtu.be/_qvlNERTWqI

but for this build, I ended up using more Durock White Lotus switches:
the pink switches looks so good again the pink frame:
the switches has a light guide, so the north-facing LEDs really didn't work well when viewed by the switches alone:
I ended up getting a set of March 7th keycaps from AliExpress:
and here's the March 7th Keeb TKL, unlit:

omg that keeb is adorable
damn that keyboard is nice
Barebone kit arrived yesterday, now I just need to wait for the switches
This one?
yes
Oooo, which color did you get?
just white

thought it would look the best with the Holo keycaps
feels good
don't have a real comparision with another diy keyboard both definitely feels nice
one question I do have, why are some holes bigger and some smaller for the switches?
The holes in the middle of where the switch is going
@jolly coral oi, care if i DM you? I kinda wanna pick up a Keeb TKL for a project
Either way, we can chat here as well
Yes, there are only 2 real pins and 3 fake pins
The center stump is extra large
i wanna remake my P3 keyboard on a keeb TKL
was thinking of making it Elizabeth themed
OR
i make a P5 keyboard using the new infinikey keycaps
idk which to do (yet)
but just a few do have the large middle hole, is that normal?
I think like 4
I mostly used 5-pin switches, but there's a 3-pin set I've pulled last night (yellow)
Haha
Probably a screw underneath
But that layer is supposed to be poked through and make a seal with the pins
I remember one of the kits didn't even have any holes in the poron layer
You just literally stab through with the pins
So first step is to get a #⌨-keeb-tkl
And I can send you vinyls
But for the M7 and SW Keeb that I've just done, I've ordered some stickers from RedBubble
Because I didn't feel like messing with my inkjet
Quality is slightly lower than what I can print myself
that's the plan
I just wanted ideas and was wondering if you could help with vinyls
But the convenience was worth it since they were just demo pieces
I'd be happy to if you send me some designs through DM
Or I can just borrow from the P3 design from HYTE's case
Did you feel comfortable with ripping apart the Keeb after watching my teardown video?
then we can discuss details later
I also have official P3 stickers from the vinyl records i ordered, so those are gonna look nice
Oh okay interesting
still anxious, but more comfortable than before
Those will definitely be nice
But thanks
If there are any issues when your switches arrive, just post here
I'm sure someone will be glad to guide you in the right direction
No worries, I'll be around if you have any issues
Will do thanks
Apparently the Stitch keyboard is back in Walmart with low profile keys:
Didn't end up getting it because the quality is simply too poor and the design is not good looking
It even has a mouse, mousepad, and headset to compliment:
I was thinking about getting the Squishmellow set:
Once again, deterred by the terrible design and cheap quality
looks super cool
Am I supposed to leave this foam here?
What foam?
I see the PC plate
And please get rid of that QC Pass sticker
Looks like you've got the switches in
Yeah without a problem
The ones in the corner were a bit tricky because the plastic was bending but apart from that it worked
Unfortunately I‘ve to wait a week till I can test it
Yeah, I didn't like how much flex there was on that plate, but makes for a thock sound profile
I like my keyboards to "click" a bit more
#1071070910989209661 message
oh dang
And a small numpad
Color shift plate now pops harder
I love it!
Muscle memory helped a lot, I also hardly see the letters 😛
haha
glad HYTE didn't go with some weird layout
I struggle with anything other than 80% and 100% keyboards
Watch them release a 69%
alright, finally got all the videos processed and uploaded
since getting the purple NK87 (#1071070910989209661 message) for my wife, she's been interested in getting a numpad for herself
she saw my EK21 (#1071070910989209661 message) and got interested
I ended up getting 2, since I couldn't find a single numpad that met all the criteria she wanted
I got both the BOYI TD21: https://a.co/d/c6ilJdm
which had the perfect clear purple body along with the exact OEM pudding keycaps that I had used for the purple NK87 build
BUT, it was missing a knob
so I ended up ordering the YUNZII YZ19 as well: https://a.co/d/cI3Nlkt
YUNZII YZ19 Wireless Mechanical Number Pad,19 Keys Numeric Keypad with Knob, RGB Gasket PBT Keycaps Hot Swappable Programmable Keyboard, Number Keypad for Laptop/Tablet/PC/Mac/Win (Gateron Yellow Switch, Macaron) TRI-MODE CONNECTION: Plug and play, as a multifunctional laptop accessory, YZ19 mech...
how much you spent total on keyboard stuff
I don't know, I don't keep track
try keeping since now
the YZ19 looked quite good in white (the EK21 didn't come in white) and most importantly, had a knob
I began by modding the YZ19 first, after unboxing:
i should consider buying a new keyboard as i bought a new mouse
but my previous mouse needed replacement for a long time because of mmb
Gateron Yellow Linear switches:
had some Akko Lavender Purple tactiles leftover from the Purple Q6 (#1071070910989209661 message):
im too broke
after doing the first couple of switches, I've discovered a soft spot on the top left corner of the numpad, so I opened the numpad further to add some neoprene:
otherwise, very nice and solid numpad, and looks great with the leftover keycaps from the Purple NK87:
build and sound test video for the YUNZII YZ19: https://youtu.be/9ioxi7WYEm0
Picked up a couple of numpads to match the new NK87 builds. Full video of unboxing, stock sound testing, modding, and post-mod sound testing.

Cabana by TELL YOUR STORY music by ikson™
Link: https://ikson.com/tell-your-story
next was the BOYI TD21:
as soon as I was pulling the switches, I knew this numpad was significantly worse quality:
everything about the numpad just screamed cheap:
expensive
the TD21 did end up having the same Gateron Yellow linear switches as well
which I've swapped for some HYTE Fluffy Lavender switches that I've kept from the recent M7 Keeb TKL build (#1071070910989209661 message)
since I was going for a perfect match to the Purple NK87 (which also has the HYTE Fluffy Lavender)
alright
after padding the TD21 with some serious amount of neoprene, the numpad was barely acceptable:

turns out, the knob was less crucial to my wife than pretty LED lights:
but after doing 3 of these numpads now, my personal ranking has to be YZ19 > EK21 >>>> TD21
the only redeeming quality for the TD21 is sheer number of case color and keycaps selection:
the extra set of LEDs on the side might appeal to some people
but just an awful numpad in terms of typing quality
EK21 has an advantage over YZ19 due to it's ability to be programmed through VIA
but the build quality is pretty low due to the lack of dampening
YZ19 has both the knob and frankly, a little bit more effort on the overall typing experience
anyways, all 3 numpads are in the $40 range and all have issues
but I wasn't about to spend keyboard money on a numpad
I also did a small keycaps swap over the weekend
my wife ended up taking the White K10 Pro with the Cerakey keycaps (#1071070910989209661 message) to work and brought back her current work keyboard, the iROK FE104 that I don't think I've ever shared here before:
Here's the typing test with the OEM profile pudding keycaps that I've originally put on the FE104: https://youtu.be/s40ZPkHT_Pk
Finally got the iROK FE104 back from work and decided to swap out the keycaps. Here's the before swap typing test with OEM profile keycaps.
Board: iROK FE104 White
Switches: Kailh Box Pink
Keycaps: XVX PBT Pudding OEM Profile
did a super quick keycaps swap: https://youtu.be/0zWH4e7y0uY

Board: iROK FE104 White
Switches: Kailh Box Pink
Keycaps: PBT Mahjong Theme Cherry Profile
aside from the profile change (that impacted my typing a little bit), the sound profile is extremely similar between OEM and Cherry
anyways, here's the iROK FE104 with the Mahjong keycaps, unlit:
my keyboard wall is finally filled now:
a video tour of the keyboard wall:
been quite a journey starting from the EVA-02 keyboards from ASUS all the way to the latest EVA-01 and EVA-08 NK87s in the span of almost a year now:
I've got a couple more keyboards coming (an IDOBAO ID87 Crystal this Friday and the Akko Year of Dragon pre-order)
but otherwise, I think I'm finally done building keebs for a while
going to start focusing on this Y70 build that I'm planning to complete before the end of this year
oh yeah, there's a Green Mode Loop that will be coming at the end of the year when the Songque keycaps get here
but yeah, there won't be much left to keep track
I'm going to be done building keebs for a while
but I can do some rough estimates
there are currently 15 keyboards on the keyboard wall
there are 3 keyboards being daily driven on my wife and my desk so 6 more
so that's a total of 21 keyboards
let's be generous and estimate that each keyboard is around $200 ($150 board + $30 switches + $20 keycaps)
throw in some shipping and taxes, I think this whole keyboard adventure of mine was under $5k
das ist much
correct, and that's why there are a lot more keyboard review channels than there are PC building channels
literally 1/10th of the cost to run the channel
I mostly did this adventure to enrich my own knowledge
so that to me was worth more than the financial investment that I've put into this project
if anything, I can make a crazy unique gift that can be targeted to a particular price range
like this birthday present to my wife's best friend: #1071070910989209661 message
she just received it and got everything setup
and she's blown away at the quality difference
yup, I'll be here
quality difference compared to what
the plastic stuff that comes bundled with every office desk?
starting in september, we are being forced to go to the office 2 days a week. seriously considering toting my GMMK with the greens in to see if they send me home lol
on an aluminum deck with no gaskets or rings, yes
i absolutely cannot type on a membrane board anymore, especially the 5$ throwaway dells scattered all over
Do it. Make management regret their back to office order
make them suffer
Keyboard is working
good
how is that even possible
Pictures?
Very nice!
I absolutely love it
Looks great tbh
@jolly coral can you do this
What in heavens is this alien rgb
Too powerful
Funny, I've just ordered an ID87
Supposedly shipped last week from Germany
But I'm sure I can make the same over exposed video with my Circuit #⌨-keeb-tkl
Overexposure
brightness of gods
Apollo I think
Oh ic
Well he is God of sun but kratos used him as flashlight
here you go: @tall cliff and @winged patrol
didn't feel like pulling off the keycaps tonight
but the guy was recording the switches directly
Nice
heavenly
@fervent wolf, over here
wsg
So you're not in the US?
but without see through keys and with a black frame instead of white
So you want a full size keyboard
it doesnt really matter to me what size it is but probably preffered 80% or 60%
But the one you just took a screenshot of is a 100%
ye just for an example of what i want fr
it doesnt matter i just sent for an example of what i want fr*
ion know anything tbh
K
If you just want something that works, get a Keychron K10 or Keychron V6
Both are sub $100 full sized keyboards that will outperform any of the generic big branded keyboards
At the $200 range, you can easily get a full aluminum keyboard like the Keychron Q6
So take a look at the 3 models
And tell me which one interests you
u meant k6?
No, I meant a V6
K6 is a 65%
i like the 65%
With a 65%, you don't get numpad or function row
Gets a little bit inconvenient for work
an 80% keyboard maybe
isnt this an 80%?
Nope, that's a 96% or also known as 1800 layout
well the 96% basically takes out most of the unnecessary space or?
If you think the home/delete/insert/page up keys are unnecessary
alright ill just straight up go with an 80% or 75% with a dark frame rgb black keys or black and dark blue keys
still seeking more performance for competition
Price range?
Not sure what that means
targetting response time and latency
Wooting's 80HE is probably one of these performing 80% right now
It's out in September
Okay, show me the website that you're going to order from
That will be easier
Sorry, had to pick my daughter up from school, first day, kind of a mess
@fervent wolf, this looks like a fun site: https://qwertykey.eu/
Will ordering from here work?
Because they have the V5: https://qwertykey.eu/products/keychron-v5-hotswap-rgb-tastatura-mecanica
The V5 is a fully customizable mechanical keyboard ready for any situation. It's a great option for getting into the custom mechanical keyboard hobby. With its 100% classic look, QMK/VIA support, silicone acoustic support and PBT double shot keys, the V5 is designed for ultra-comfortable typing and increased productivi
Otherwise, Akko has a European site: https://akkogear.eu/
That's right, I've recently ordered from CandyKeys: https://candykeys.com/
Mechanical Keyboard Store in Germany/EU | Keychron, GMK, NEO, Akko, Cherry - Keycaps, Switches & Accessories for Keyboards - Worldwide Shipping - Since 2016
They're in Germany
They have a huge selection
I've just remembered, do you need ISO vs. ANSI?
what does lubricated mean
Don't bother
You won't notice the difference
Nice, Q3 is on pre-order at CandyKeys: https://candykeys.com/product/keychron-q3-max-iso-de
Before we get too far
Which website can we order from?
There are just too many keyboards for me to just suggest
Ardes is a huge site
Lots of junk keyboards
That I can't filter correctly
And I can't access desktop.bg:
Annoying that it's north facing LEDs
But not a deal killer
Hot swap, TKL, Gateron Yellows
Separate listing for the Brown Tactile switches: https://ardes.bg/product/genesis-thor-404-tkl-kailh-cheren-nkg-2071-364043
The Yellows are linear switches
Nice, ardes also has the V3: https://ardes.bg/product/keychron-v3-max-qmk-cheren-sin-v3m-d4-403390
If you can spend a little bit more, the V3 is a far superior product
And it's the knob version too
ill check em
Second listing for the V3: https://ardes.bg/product/keychron-v3-max-qmk-cheren-sin-v3m-d3-403389
That one is for Brown
The previous one is the Banana
Both are tactile
I prefer the Banana switches because of the top bump
Here is a listing for the K8: https://ardes.bg/product/keychron-k8-tkl-rgb-cheren-k8-c2-209241
But blue Clicky switches
Very loud and annoying, but if you want clicky switches
is there any site that can compare keyboards
No
There are too many
What do you want to compare?
Keychron K8 Pro and razer deathstalker v2
What the, the special edition Yellow Ducky One 3 is in stock: https://ardes.bg/product/ducky-one-3-zhalt-ducky-key-08-ruspdydyyyc1-270984
What do you want to compare?
overall performance
What does that even mean?
Deathstalker is a generic keyboard with no hot swap
in a more understandable way?
Essentially no better than the "Genesis" Thor 404
No modding future
And they're charging too much for a generic keyboard
Just because of branding
A huge attraction for custom keyboards is the ability to swap out switches
And keycaps
These generic branded keyboards are terrible, not only because they're over charging, but also most of them don't have hot swap switches
Logitech is probably the worst offender
They use proprietary switches so you can't even swap keycaps
Nice, first barebone: https://ardes.bg/product/glorious-rgb-gmmk-tkl-ansi-cheren-gl-key-gata-973-278323
Spotted a bunch of Ducky One 3 TKL at the end, but all out of your price range
Anyways, went through the entire ardes website
Those are the only TKL keyboards I would recommend
Where are you seeing the K8 Pro?
mb
didnt mean pro
but ye
i found the deathstalker v2 for 200 levs
with a free steam game
to it
Sorry, can't access that website from the US
The TKL or the 100% version?
Anyways, there are quite a few Keychron keyboards on ardes
I would filter and see if you see something you like
All Keychron keyboards are programmed with VIA
So there's no heavy software in the background
Wait, that's a low profile keyboard?
Why do you want a low profile keyboard?
In more understandable terms
Yes
And extremely limited selection of keycaps
Do you even want to build a custom keyboard?
ain't no way im getting 1st place in mee6 bot if dihy continues talking about keyboards
Why do you want first?
no idea
Not any worse than the Logitech stuff
You'll be bound to their ecosystem if you don't want to run another software in the background
Honestlt the only difference in my eyes rn is the colors lmao
Imagine being able to use any keycaps on the market
And switches
If that doesn't excite you
Just get something cheap
Redragon
Genesis
No need for hot-swappable
Oh btw here is the k8 pro I was talking bout
Hm?
This one
Hey this one
It'll change your life
wheres the rgb since it says it has
All RGB are on the PCB
which is

On the bottom
Every keyboard has their RGB on the bottom
Your keycaps determine how much light you want to let through
You can go crazy and get transparent keycaps
i see
idk where to get keycaps though
aint that bad
It's just keycaps
China products?
Google "keycaps" and show me what you find
Have you seen keycaps not made in China?
well nothing good
Idk
I am guessing most are made in china
Show me
What theme ur set up is?
setup isnt here yet but itll be blue for the rgb 🤷
and check the keycaps
im lf black and blue
or gray and blue shit like that
or just straight up black ig
nah thats red yellow and blue
😭
- aint that a specific game orientated keyboard
and its 150 levs
enough for a whole keyboard
this is what im lf
an example
but its 219 keys
More, cheaper: https://gplay.bg/search?search_text=Keycaps
cheaper but nothing fitting
No Amazon?
Can you order from here? https://candykeys.com/products/keycaps
CandyKeys is in Germany
That shit is more expensive than my kidney
Nevermind
That GMK set is 40:
Do you have Amazon? @fervent wolf?
I see
here
still
How about AliExpress?
ion trust that chinese bs fr
Do they ship to your country?
Because KPRepublic is one of the largest site https://kprepublic.com/collections/keycaps
If you want lots of RGB, it's hard to beat Pudding Keycaps:
Oomph, Drop is having BOGO on their MT3 (SA) and DCX (OEM) keycaps: https://drop.com/all-communities/drops/BACKTOSCHOOLBOGO
The Noctua set and the LOR set are on the list
Along with the gorgeous gemstone DCX sets
@mortal venture, which custom keycaps?
just the drawing i dont mean something special 😭
custom keycaps on alie is pretty expensive ong
I've recently ordered a super cute set: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806099312064.html
50€
but it's the crazy tall MOA profile
70€
those are really nice they are going into the basket
several designs and colorways
choose something that fits your setup more
but they have both dogs and cats
i really thought of buying this keyboard but i was afraid of it being too much
and the major selling point for these are the fact that the key SHAPES are different
does it need to get used to it ?
Alice?
yeah
I can't get used to it
I see
i love cats and dogs but i cant be around big dogs they have beef with me and i just hate being jumped
Mellenius built one a while back: #1071070910989209661 message
buying puppies keycaps will be ultimate betrayer to my two cats
crazy RGB acrylic board: https://www.keebmonkey.com/products/keebmonkey-blackhole-pro-acrylic-keyboard
The Blackhole Alice keyboard is made of CNC acrylic, with very precise machining and overall top-class design and quality control, this is absolutely a solid build, acoustic features are optimized with a foam and the PC plate. The keyboard is left with much moddabbility since space is left in the keyboard ~~~~~~~~~~ La
may i know the full name of the keyboard and does it come without switches?
16€ for just one
yeah, I've just shared the link
sorry
indeed
sounds pretty reasonable
otherwise, it's hard to go wrong with the Feker Alice keyboard
o really
is the knot replaceable ? ill assume yes
you really going to make me buy this
but goes back to the question of whether or not to go Alice
no ill buy dont care if it was not for the use
it can be hannging
for the looks
ah
the 98 version looks so ugly
and long
theres also 68 am now really thinking which one
my hands and my typing says 80
and the looks says 68
Yeap, an Alice layout keyboard with a knob exists now. The FEKER Alice 80 comes with wireless functionality and a really nice ergonomic layout, plus it now supports QMK/VIA
Thanks to whatgeek.com for sending over this keyboard!
Use Code "SAMUEL10" for 10% off store-wide.
FEKER Alice 80 Mechanical Keyboard
FEKER Alice...
ergo
i wouldn't like my keyboard to be bent, sometimes i use only one hand to type (don't think about it the wrong way)
i just have a little physicological disorder that makes me think that some things are dirty
8000 battery ooo
anyways, review definitely covered everything I would want to know about the keyboard
but definitely shop around
I like the fact that Feker's Alice80 comes with a knob
somehow the knob is a huge deal for my wife
(I like it too, helpful, but not a necessity)
but yeah, the CIDOO version is VIA programmable: https://a.co/d/7eakJea
Specs Model: CIDOO ABM066 Kit Layout: Split Alice Keys Amount: 67 Keys + 1 Knob Hot-Swappable: Yes Connectivity: Type-C Wired, Bluetooth 5.0 & 2.4GHz Structure: Gasket Mount Gasket Material: Poron foams Case Material: ABS Plastic PCB Thickness: 1.2mm Plate Material: PC Battery Capacity: 3000mAh A...
theres a one comes witth matcha keycaps
and not to mention only $60 and comes with a screen
matcha keycaps?
you know screens are nice and the maken the best look
but
my eyes cant handle anymore
i cant have more screens
well, matcha keycaps aren't that expensive: https://a.co/d/ehqllQA
am planning to update my eyes graphic card with lesser surgery soon 😭
I would just get a barebone
#off-topic, but don't do it
take it from someone who knows a ton of people that had done it
just don't
ill stick to 17€ keycaps
@jolly coral i was checking the alice keyboards just now to pick up one
is there a company stands out for this type ? i see alot of feker and others
Nope
Keycaps get tricky with this layout
is there something i need to keep in mind ?
before buying keycaps for this type of keyboards
also everytime i search this keyboard alice in wondeland shows up for and i used to like this show so much
makes me want to buy this keyboard even more
Split space bar
how it even feels to play on such keyboard
And you'll even want to go with a flat profile keycaps like DSA or XDA:
Since the keys are all angled funny
Something with too much curve will end up being weird
Since the rows don't really line up
do these profiles matter on normal keyboards?
Not as much except for preference
then ill be fine with any
It's actually a problem with these weird layout ergo keyboards
as long as it looks good
A lot harder
These flat profile keycaps usually don't come designed
Here's a few sets: https://a.co/d/cQwZEMO
But no split space bar
So essentially, these 2 factors combined will make your hunt for keycaps extra difficult
i dont know how will i find split space bar
i forgot
when u buy full key caps set does these keys for the space bar come with it or without
i hope they do
But there is a set from Epomaker: https://a.co/d/dFwqil5
Cherry profile
depend on u
More cherry profile: https://a.co/d/2QZzl0c
assuming cherry profile will be bee sting when clicking
or is it fine with this layout
I'm not sure
Since I've never owned an Alice keyboard before
Only this stuff from Microsoft, back in the day: https://a.co/d/awYqRnP
Stay comfortable and work longer with the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite. The split, gently sloped shape of this keyboard allows you to type with a more natural hand, wrist, and forearm position. The ergonomic design helps to prevent poor posture and fatigue, so you can work longer at your comp...
oo this looks old
am thinking to get eponaker as they are cheaper but i hope the quality is not
so ill check reviews on epomaker models
i dont know what switches i should go with this time also am idiot i always ruin 2 - 5 switches everytime
i doom the pins
@jolly coral am sorry asked you so much but do you think it will take so much to learn typing on this keyboard ? or its just like different type then get used to it
Honestly looks cool
you should get used to typing pretty quickly (under a week imo)
because isn't it supposed to feel more "natural"
i wont take any advices from you because of your intel takes
nerd
ive seen some sound tests on these switches they are top
they sound better than the feker matcha ones
from my research
am yellow hater
they look a little yellowish but you wont see it under keycaps
ill check it in a bit as i dont know what should i go with my barebone
am thinking cream switches or matcha
alright, its your choice
Hipyo caught a lot of flak for this video: https://youtu.be/d5Y75E6FDno

i learned to type on a MS split board
took me 2 years to convert to a straight board
and i still typo AF
it looks difficult
sadly all the alice ones are either 66 or full 98 the 75 ones are so expansive for some reason
this one comes with keycaps also there is a joy stick in the middle 😭
i wonder if it can be modded if there is software
it looks they are new but looks fresh
Anything to distinguish themselves from a Keychron
Keychron has several Alice layout

but now they are overpriced
Nah, it's just the rest of the market has gotten cheaper
idk which one but yes compared to others
they are expansive
but yes theey meet the expectations most of the time
oh wow from retailers keycheron cost so much here
LIKE 40% PRICE INCREASE
no
actually almost 100% price increase
i searched it and it costs around 390 here wow....
This site still has the purple color Q10 barebone: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/products/keychron-q10-w-knob?variant=47608005329196
