Recluse can be crazy strong, and fairly reliably too. Also revenant is quite good once you get used to her. I dont think any character actually sucks, its more playstyle discrepancies

Recluse is pretty fun, I'll give you that, but its a matter of figuring out the right magic buffs and spells, which staff you wanna use, and while it's not a bad thing, it can get just a teeny tiny bit confusing figuring out "hmm, will this spell be powerful enough to melt the boss?"

She is fun, though.

level 2 camp > castle/church > evergaol > world boss > evergaol > castle is the standard if you land at the bottom of the lake

if you land north, hit the double evergaols book ending the two world bosses then head south to castle.
Hopefully you get a stonesword key from the church/castle you hit for level 3. Kill the world bosses unless it's red fox or grandma or ghost bird or something annoying, though you can kill ghost bird at level 1 if you have sacred gear

Also i'm +1 my base weapon as early as level 2.

yeah dutchess is weird because crystallions and some other tanky stuff is hard to kill. I can kill godskin or crucible knights pretty easy on raider at level 3 so i can do evergaols early for fast levels

ancient dragon fart snacks and ghost bird evergaols are cursed though, gotta skip those

yeah but i don't want to kill ancient dragon, i hate dragons

The dragon wtih the hollow chest is easy though

if you get sacred blade or sacred right, you can kill death bird in like 7 hits at any level

too much time to spend, and he is too hard to stagger
Crucible knight is level 6 and an easy evergaol is level 5

which is enough to get you started on world bosses > Castle

Alright so it seems you need a sweet spot reticle placement and a proper camera angle to reproduce this the easiest. But you can indeed launch yourself intentionally.
This clip was really more luck than anything it’s much easier to do it when the camera isn’t massaging your back

if you slow it down you can kinda see the reticle move forward from the original position on release which i guess is why you have to undershoot. better not to undershoot too much though, as if you fail you can still get the regular jump anyways instead of the dinky slide i did here

in the shadow keep from the main entrance, there's a ladder in an area before a main elevator that'll lead to the big chasm you see to the right with all the water, and eventually a catacombs that even further leads to the scary woods

continue through that cave in gravesite south, the one to the right of the supressing pillar to reach the jagged peak

in the main ruins of scadu altus short east, you see that triangular shaped pond? go in there, that leads to the rauh base which is far west
