Made an Angry Birds-style Ernest Pig, KnowhutImean? Since there was a Mario Pig in Angry Birds Friends, I decided to make another iconic 1980s character into a Angry Birds Character, this time I imagined Ernest "Powertools" Worrell being a pig. He is one of my favorite characters, and I find comfort watching compilations of his old commercials promoting Purity Farms, Mello Yello, Sprite, Convenient Food Mart, Weber Farms, Braum’s, Tysons Toyota, & many more.
He was the star of many moves from the 80s and 90s, the first being "Dr. Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam", but "Ernest Goes to Camp" was the first major film role he served in. You can find many of his old movies on platforms like FilmRise, and I highly reccomend you to check out his movies. Did you know, James Albert Varney Jr voiced Slinky Dog from Toy Story, in 1 and 2, unfortunately, he would pass away in 2000, which is the reason his friend Blake Clark filled in for the third movie. Rest in Peace to a childhood legend. I put the Tennessee State Route badge for my watermark, as Ernest filmed there and was based out of Tennessee mostly. I grew up with some of his movies when I was young. I wanted to celebrate the joy and laughter Jim Varney brought to so many people. Ernest always turned chaos into something funny and memorable, and I wanted to imagine that same spirit in the Angry Birds universe, a guy who makes backyard creations, and is kind-hearted, and good-natured. I will make more illustration posts featuring him eventually, and try to color in his eyes more.
