Reason: instead of giving us a new character it's a rework/new ability version of Dahlia. This could have been the chance to finally get a purple bird in the flock but instead we get a pale version of Dahlia. For the Ghost mode it turns purple making it even more painful knowing it's been 17 years without a purple bird making it into the flock had the ghost form be just transparent or white lining and translucent body it be fine but it isn't and it really makes me question why we don't have one at this point I will settle for a redeemed Gale but the flock could really use an official purple bird

Having a reworked/recolored Bird and having it called "new" isn't an unexplored concept. Shockwave, Tony, Stella in ABStella, Mighty Feathers Red, most of the Space flock --- these are all Birds in Angry Birds that have been recolored/slightly tweaked visually and given a new name to be called different.
Dahlia/Shade is no exception to any of the examples mentioned thus far, with the only exception being that this is a modern Rovio creation (so naturally, #BringBack2012 supporters would call this irredeemable garbage /j).
If there is already a negative discourse around her, then that could and (technically) SHOULD apply to all of the other recolors we got in the past.
Additionally, we already had a purple bird appear in the Flock before. Zeta joined the Autobirds Flock in Angry Birds Transformers, and Gale was a playable bird in the original ABStella (with a possible return in Angry Birds Reloaded). The latter also has potential to, alongside the rest of the Stella Flock, join the main Flock thanks to Reloaded's Secret Area.
