Remove the poison fog from the poison cave, and replace the uranium and grimestone veins with pure raw uranium veins (kinda like raw gold in mikes mines and raw jade in the desert). Raw uranium veins would look similar to the large glowing green crystals in the walls of the cave, just smaller.

Raw uranium would have the special property of dealing a low amount of damage over time if the player is somewhat close to the rocks, increasing in damage as they get closer. The more uranium is near the player, the more damage they take.

Ideally, once the player gathers enough raw uranium into their truck, the truck itself would start becoming a hazard. The player would need to occasionally get out of the truck to heal, which in turn forces them to engage with the local goblins and skeletons.

It would overall suck less than dealing with the poison cave

Ideally, you would want to use a landhauler or a smaller vehicle to limit how much material you're hauling at once so you dont take as much damage, or you use trailers to keep the ore farther from yourself

Its kinda like a trade-off. You can either take a lot at once but it starts to hurt and you need to take occasional breaks while driving, or you can take less ore and not take as much damage

Although yeah, it doesnt exactly solve the problem of the poison damage being annoying, i just wanted to have it so the poison damage is worth enduring as currently uranium is one of the worst things you can possibly grind due to how little the ores are and how long you spend sitting around healing

i guess it depends how much damage you take

#

if its like a couple minutes to kill you even with a lot of uranium it wouldnt be too bad

Current poison cave has you sitting inside of a damage zone to heal yourself super slow. With this idea you would have the option to simply run away from the damage source to regain your health significantly faster

Its hard to gauge how much damage you would actually be taking because it depends on how far the ore would be from you and how much ore is near you, but i ideally want a full landhauler to be tolerable amounts of radiation and a full semi requiring you to actually run away from the vehicle occasionally to heal

okay so im realizing this might be pretty hard to balance properly

the main idea is that instead of waiting a long time to heal in the poison cave, you would instead have to bail out of your truck sometimes to get your health back

else you would end up dying from radiation damage

these healing periods wouldnt be as long as the poison cave waits because you can just walk away from the radioactive truck and not take any damage, but then it would potentially force you into situations where you need to go heal but you're in an area with goblins

so its like do i keep enduring the radiation to avoid the goblins or do i bail out right now to avoid the radiation

the main problem im seeing is that if you balance it around healing coils then its too punishing for those without one, but if you balance it around not having a coil then a coil would trivialize it

i suppose it could be like, if you dont have a coil then you shouldnt be taking heavy truckloads

having access to a healing coil gates how much you're able to transport and how fast you can get it home
