not only it would give us a larger colourful pallet, it would also improve builds with more materials

basically you could gun the trees (when chopped down with a living axe) which then could be consumed by a mat gun or a new gun which allows you to consume the leaf's/pedals (note if you use a mat gun to consume the stem, it wouldn't give the leaf's/pedals material)
