Overview:
Oaklands has huge potential to grow into a true player-driven economy. Right now, teamwork and trading mostly happen outside the game (Discord, group posts, etc.), which leads to scams and limited in-game interaction.
My idea: Add a Job Board & Contract System where players can safely hire, work, and get paid automatically for completing jobs. This would make Oaklands feel like a living, thriving economy.
The Problem:
• Manual recruiting is messy and happens outside the game.
• Scams occur when players work but don’t get paid.
• Limited gameplay variety — everyone just mines and sells for themselves.
• Endgame players run out of meaningful goals.
The Solution:
A built-in system where jobs are posted, accepted, and paid automatically.
• Post Jobs: Example: “Deliver 50 refined Palladium – $100,000 reward.” Funds are locked upfront to prevent scams.
• Accept Jobs: Workers browse the board, take a job, and complete it.
• Automatic Payout: When the job is done, payment is released instantly.
Why This Works:
• Prevents scams — no manual payouts needed.
• Encourages teamwork — miners, haulers, and refiners can specialize.
• Builds a real economy — big players can run companies, new players can earn starter money.
• Adds replayability — late-game players have reasons to stay active by hiring and expanding.
Extra Features:
• Company profiles with logos and descriptions.
• Rating system for both workers and employers (like Uber).
• Event contracts posted by devs for limited-time rewards.
Why It Fits Oaklands:
• Uses existing gameplay loops like mining, hauling, and refining.
• Expands the game naturally without replacing core features.
• Gives every player — beginner or veteran — a meaningful role in the economy.
