Oaklands has the most unrestrictive, creative, and unique build UI I've seen so far on Roblox as a whole. However, it can still feel incredibly frustrating or limiting. Here I'll list just a few build mode ideas to make it a little easier for the over the top, construction working players out there.
Anchor + Free-cam
One of the most irritating things in building is when you get to the decorating with items part. I'm glad there's already an anchoring feature, makes life so much easier, but it's still frustrating as you have to basically parkour or build ladders and steps to place anything high up, or make anything heavy stand.
To get rid of this frustration, I recommend **adding dragging to free-cam **- only available when you are over your base in build mode, so as not to allow people to too easily bring items home using this feature.
This would make it exponentially easier to anchor tools and materials either as decor or just in general, without the frustrating task of hoping around.
Locking Schematics
Similar to Roblox Studio, you should be able to use the in-game select* (F)* and have the option to Lock one or more schematics in place. This would prevent so many things:
- Accidental consumption of a material from a schematic using the material gun
- Accidental selection and/or moving when selecting multiple objects
- Prevents (Select Region) from selecting that schematic
There could be an alternative key combination (i.e. F + shift, F + ctrl) to select one or more locked schematics so that you can unlock them.
Blueprint Design Shape
While the shape shows in the image on the UI, It doesn't show anything but big blocks (hitbox) when you are placing them, which is the most important part. Rather than removing this and making it so that they show the actual shapes of the parts, I feel that there could be a setting for this (off and on).
(I also feel this way for replicating parts)
(Ran out of characters, so I'll comment under this)
