Crater On the Earth Texture

So when I was looking at the textures of earth (as you do), I noticed an odd detail in the rgh texture file.

I decided to combine multiple textures to get a rough idea of what it is supposed to look like on model

I figured that I should look and see what sort of significant features are in this area of America that could be from or caused this crater.

So I firstly looked up the location of Yellowstone and overlayed it on the map, it seemed to be almost in the perfect spot.

This little detail, combined with the knowledge from the first alterna log that “Volcanic eruptions leveled cities”, I theorized that this little crater might be signifying that in splatoon the Yellowstone Caldera erupted as part of the fall of humanity.
