i imagine it probably depends on whether cephalopod ink is flammable. 5 minutes of googling have gotten me contradictory answers.

Yes, ink CAN put out fires.
since their ink is water based.
I would imagine, in a pinch, ink may help put out some fire. the new wave suits are designed after fireman suits, after all
but I believe firefghting jobs would be staffed up by the jellyfish, who actually are able to survive in regular water
plus, water alone isn't used for putting out fires, like firefghting foam or chemical powder
apparently the stuff inside fire extinguishers r chemically similar to baking powder... but tht's just me reading off the first Google result
