Force CIFS delete?

This KB article is where I started: https://kb.netapp.com/Advice_and_Troubleshooting/Data_Storage_Software/ONTAP_OS/Cannot_delete_SVM_due_to_existing_CIFS_server - the tl;dr here is to put dummy credentials in (test/test) and force the deletion of the vserver. Trying that gives me the error message

Error: command failed: Domain SID for Vserver "foobar" not found.

Further googling led me to this KB, which has a similar but not exact symptom: https://kb.netapp.com/Advice_and_Troubleshooting/Data_Storage_Software/ONTAP_OS/cifs_server_deletion_failed_with_Error_"Local_domain_"S-1-5-21-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"_not_found"

The symptom there is closer to Local domain "S-1-5-whatever" not found . The fix is to contact NetApp support and get the diag level commands
