By chance we had a walk in the DC and noticed one A700 (ONTAP 9.16.1) where the FANs were running amok... the yellow led "!" was on...
We where however unable to see any errors inside ONTAP... (system health subsystem.. environmental show, event logs...) nothing..
We noticed that it was mainly on the left side of the chassis that the fans were running full speed.. we tried to pull them one at a time, but they just sped up again...
We got event logs when pulling the FANs... but it is apparently not possible to see the RPM on these fans?
Anyway, we then rebooted the service-processors which fixed the issue... (they where on FW 4.11P3)
But strange how this wasn't reported anywhere else than on the physical system? Or are we looking the wrong place?
#You now need acustic sensors on your A700 :-)

I've had the same issue on my A700. No idea when or why it happens. Rebooting the SP always fixes it.
Maybe a weekly cron-job that reboots the service-processer is in order? 😉
If I had a cent every time I heard that, I would have a handful at least.
Throwback to the 500+ days of SP uptime reset.

When the DC guys call saying they can hear it over the Brocade directors, that's my reboot notice 😆
