#Performance as you expand a pool?

With a E5760 system, would it make any negative difference in performance if you started with say 30 disks in the pool, filled it up to 80%, then expand the pool to 60 disks?
Is the RAID6/DDP a "real" RAID6 and not like ONTAP with "RAID4" base? Does it have to touch all disks when expanding the pool? Basically I just want to know if you can expect better performance after adding disks to the pool because there are more spindles? Or is there a "distribute" feature you can start?
The reason for asking, it that we have a project which requires x-ammount of space.. but they will fill it up over several years... so if we starteded out with all disks it would be a bit of a waste (if you don't consider performance)... but does it make sense to expand after awhile?

afaik, e-series restripes data in a pool, also every time a disk fails. Buying disks outside of full shelves tends to be a more expensive path over time and availability of disk sizes in the SATA world isn't very stable and also more expensive if you need non-current sizes not to mention the GB price per dollar will be higher most of the time. Not sure how well e-series utilizes larger disks in existing pools. Might down-size them.

same “afaik”, it will get restriped and you will get more performance.
On the point of right-sizing, its going to follow the rule of lowest common denominator. If you have a 10TB drive pool and add 24TB drives to the same pool they will be 10TB until all drives are 24TB. Good part is that once they are all 24TB the full capacity will automatically be available.
