We have two FAS F50 systems which should be identical... but looking at the SM graphics one is missing the local shelf where the controllers are installed and the two FlashCache modules/disks are installed...?
This is on ONTAP 9.16.1P5 which will be upgraded in a few days to 9.17... but still a bit strange? The system showing no local shelf has ben upgraded from a FAS8300... and the one which shows the local shelf was upgraded from a FAS2600 -> FAS2700 -> F50...
I can see the FlashCache when I run "sysconfig -a", so the hardware is there 😉

Hmmm yeah that's weird. Is it also the same on both FAS50 with these commands?
system controller flash-cache show
run -node * options flexscale.enable
Shows the two cache disks and the Flexscale.enable is set to "on" on both systems..
I got the OK to update these later today, hopefully that fixes it...
Hmm not sure if this is any better? Shows the shelf now, but without the two disks? 😉 The error is because of the update... for some reason the errors during update still isn't filtered out...
..this is on 9.17.1P7
OK the other systems now shows the same... so the two disks at the side are "gone" from the graphics... here are still 24 slots in the graphics, so it doesn't correspond to the real world, but at least it's consistent now 😉
....this also shows 24 empty slots...
I think you can use the 22 empty slots for NVMe data disks? I wonder if they show up here? 😉
I am sure we are more than willing to sell you a few more disks to enable your testing 😆
If you have the time, create a support case, ask the TSE to search for a matching bug and if there is none, create a new.
If you can hook me up with some good prices we can make a deal... the prices we got lately just makes you cry 😉
...I remember back in the old days, NetApp used to send the customers frisbees and suncream if they found a bug 😎
really? that's neat. I found a security vulnerability (disclosure of private keys and other internal stuff to S3/FabricPool) and all I got was a "oh, you're right, thanks" 😄
Yeah different times I guess 😉
they wouldn't even tell me what releases exactly had the fix in them... Maybe I should try it again to see if they really fixed it 🙂
