Looking into SCV documentation lately I realized that in order to restore just a VM and not the entire datastore, that VM has to be sitting on a FlexVol. This is obviously less than ideal as FlexVols don’t make use of both controllers on a system like a FlexGroup volume. Likewise it’s not great to give each VM their own datastore if I want to make use of FlexGroups. Is there any reasoning behind this? Are there plans to allow VM level restores for VMs sitting on datastores that tie to FlexGroup volumes in the future? Thanks in advance.
