#How to populate 12 disks in a C30 system

Not an answer to your question but I agree that it is a bit strange that the C80 is the only one in the C-series with the alternate views for disk positioning.
yeah also trying to chat with support to see 🙂
they come with the same kb I found: https://kb.netapp.com/on-prem/ontap/OHW/OHW-KBs/How_to_partially_populate_a_controller_with_an_internal_shelf_with_drive
All 2U platforms:
outside -> inside
meaning 0,1,2,3 - 21,22,23
to start, then 4 & 20 and then 5 & 19, and so on
The 4U platform have extra bridges that require the different placement
You may need/want to re-init system to take advantage of smallest root possible (all-data wiped)
yeah that's no problem it's not used yet
was trying option 4 and 9a / 9b already but controller 2 kept failing
it will. One node "owns" the left and the other "owns" the right. if one has no disks to "own" it will not go
and then have to redo - 9a/9b
yeah but now the disks are also installed a bit weird in slots 2 - 15
but I'm remote trying to install it so it's a bit difficult 🙂
@junior carbon it worked fine after reseating the disks, thanks again
