Is it supported? Will it work? Should I give it a try?
The main reason it would make sense to try is that we have snapvault relations on the volumes with long retentions... an alternative would be snapmirror which will include down time...
There is of cause always the SVM migration?
I know that much of this isn't supported... but have anyone tried this? (we can verify that SnapVault from Lenovo to NetApp works)... are there any "code" that will check to see if the systems are Lenovo/NetApp? :.)

supported? no 😂
will it work? no idea, maybe? but do you want to risk it?
risk is my middle name 😉 nah I was just currious if anybody had any experiance with it... with a little luck I may end up with the controller in our test environment, where I can do some tests... then again we don't actually see that many Lenovo/ONTAP systems so it might be a waste of time
yeah I personally have not yet had a Lenovo system to play with (otherwise I probably would have tried this already 🤣 )
never tried but HW interoperability between FAS/AFF and Lenovo DM systems is not allowed or supported – and in most cases is locked out via code. (found in the Partnerhub Lenovo Partnering FAQ)
interesting... hopefully I am able to buy the old Lenovo controller when we migrated away from it... and if I have time I will do some test myself 😉
...but of cause I would never do this at a customer installation... there are just too many risks
Lenovo aside... one is 2U the other 3U. Disks aren't compatiable either for an offline
