SC 6.1P1 needs tools but cannot install it

I just deployed SC for VMware 6.1P1 into our brand new 9.0 environment.

I deployed the OVA but once it booted i could not install VMware tools as we don't have an ISO for linux.

The linux.iso was discontinued around VMware tools 10.3 (they are upto 13 now) and now its suggested for linux hosts use open-vm-tools.

Because we did not have VMware tools installed none of the network settings were applied to the appliance.

Now im stuck as this is an appliance and i dont have full access to the OS ?

Ideas ?

BTW 6.2 did not work and im following the KB here which says go back to 6.1 and get that working and patch up to 6.2

Hello SCV Plugin 6.2 and above will have open-vmtools installed

snap center 6.2 will not install due to a bug and NetApp suggest to downgrade to 6.1 get it working and then upgrade to 6.2..
