We are trying to size a configuration to replace an old A300 with 40 x 7.6TB SSDs... We are unsure at to which model to go with... the customer has a fairly heavy write workload but we have not analysed it yet.
We are looking at the ASA C30, AFF C30r2 or the AFF A30 all with 22 x 15.3TB NVMe disks (A30 of cause TLC).
Given the workloads are mostly FC block. Can someone give us an idea about any performance difference? Is the ASS C30 also limited like the AFF C30r2 and how much faster is the A30 compared to the C30's ? (the price suggests 3x the speed 🙂 ) I haven't seen any performance numbers on the r2 models yet, but maybe I have not looked that hard?

do you have access to NetApp Fusion? With that you can size a replacement for your existing system (or you can ask your NetApp/Partner sales reps to do the sizing for you if you can't access Fusion yourself)
for FC block I guess the ASA would be the right fit, but only if you don't use the rest of the Data Fabric (e.g. existing NearStore for backup)
We have access to Fusion etc... but not sure if the A300 is sending autosupports... I guess we could do a "Tech Refresh" and it should pull the data from the existing system? Would have been nicer if it could just show the same performance graph as on the E-Series (in Fusion)... but for ONTAP it just don't... I will have a look tomorrow if ASUP is active... But can you verify if the ASA C30 is "limited" like the AFF C30r2 ?
