#Upgrade Ontap and Firmware

Hello, I've been reading from this page https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/upgrade/prepare.html and I believe I'm mostly ready to follow along. I'd just like to clear up, I've seen on this Compatability support matrix that some Ontap versions are compatible with SP versions and some not. When I upgrade Ontap, it will also upgrade the firmware, correct? Or do I have to manually upgrade the firmware first to a desired compatible version before I can upgrade ontap?

I appreciate your help and I hope the question was clear enough.

That depends on a couple of things..
Upgrading ONTAP does upgrade the firmware, to some extent.
You shouldn't need to manually upgrade the firmware beyond the version supplied with the upgrade unless there are specific security/bug fixes in the firmware only packages.
