#2008r2 and iscsi to 9.17.1p1

do you have the host utility tools installed on the server?
have you checked to make sure it is actually making a connection and there aren't any problems with networking?
port ping, etc.
yeah of course this will work. it's just iSCSI after all 🙂
You can install the host utilities and the DSM but it's not strictly required, it will work without just fine (I have this running in my lab so I know it works, with multipathing/ALUA and all)
So, if it doesn't work, check the usual: make sure you don't have typo in the initiator name in the igroup. If you're using CHAP, try without first. Check iscsi initiator show and iscsi session show in ONTAP
make sure the LUN reporting nodes are set correctly and if you're using portsets, try without those first
Did all that, see devices in the iscsi initiator in Windows, but not in disk management.
Customer will try to install host utilities.
open regedit
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\msdsm\Parameters\DsmSupportedDeviceList
verify that Values exist
Vendor 8Product 16
MSFT2005iSCSIBusType_0x9
ETC
Also, have you checked to make sure that iSCSI is enabled in the MPIO control panel
"Discover Multi-Paths"
Add support for iSCSI devices
When looking in the iSCSI panel, does it show the LUN as anything, like 0, 1 or -1 etc
also, if you aren't using multi-path, remove the service from the system.
Check event logs for any event ID 47 errors
restart virtual disk service
Both exist. Disk show up as -1.
We use mpio.
Iscsi initiator and sessions are active on Ontap
and in the iscsi control pane it shows attached, etc, does it show volumes or anything
restart the services?
detach, attach the LUN
attach it to another system
Use something such as Starwinds SAN to test and make sure you can attach iSCSI at all to that machine
Iscsi on Windows sees the devices. Currently also connected to other storage and heavily production....
Installation of host utilities 7.1 X64 (with the IGNORE_HOTFIX_CHECK=1 option) made the disks visible.
strange. that didn't used to be necessary 🤔
