Hi
We have a four node C800 MCCIP with the C9336C-FX2 switches...
When we configured it, we used the java tool generator version 1.6c to create the configuration...
When I look at the recommended versions it shows RFC version 1.13.. but if we just dump that in to the switch, it might "break" the config we created with the generator? 😉

Also what is recommended to upgrade first? ONTAP or IOS? (I guess it doesn't matter?)

The RCF version 1.13 is for non mcc

Your switches are running NX-OS. Check in HWU under "Supported Switch and Bridge Firmware" what combination of ONTAP and NX-OS are supported.

If possible I usually update ONTAP and firmwares first and then update NX-OS. Especially since with newer ONTAP-versions they improved the switch health monitoring and also introduced log collection.

yeah, never blindly upgrade RCF files. Sometimes, port usage changes between versions and you'll be left with an MCC connected to the wrong ports. Always double-check the port usage in the header of the generated file

According to the documentation you basically just check the MC, and then perform the update of each of the switches... is this just how it's done? I would have thought that it might make sense to maybe disable some ports either on the controllers or on the switches... So that the links does not "flap" up and down? On a Brocade switch I normallt do a "switch disable" do the update and the enable the switch once done... They don't even mention to do a "autosupport invoke "NDU Start....."" so it may trigger support cases...? 🙂

Disabling ports is not necessary for switch firmware updates, done it a dozen times without.

You need to manually invoke ASUPs.
