We have a customer with a few VMWare datastores created from the ONTAP Tools on two C800HA's in an SM ActiveSync setup...
We now want to enable a bit of snapshot locking, yet the option is not avaliable in the web gui, and if we try to enable it in cmd-line we get the "Error: command failed: Snapshot copy locking cannot be enabled on volumes with tiering policy other than "none" or on volumes which have data tiered out to an object store." ... we didn't enable this our self, but we can see that the volume does have a "snapshot-only" tiering policy enabled... but is this ONTAP Tools that have set this? Or is this a unknown to me "feature" of SMAS ? 😉 Should I just remove this policy and enable snaplock?

...just to clarify a bit.. we used ONTAP Tools version 10.2, I guess this is the only way to set up the SMAS in vCenter?
FYI - currently not supported. SM-AC w/tamperproof snaps. https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/snaplock/snapshot-lock-concept.html
OK missed that 😉 Not sure why it isn't supported, but thankfully we have snapmirror relations to other systems where we can set it on the protection policy... Any idea why the tiering policy is set?
I think "snapshot-only" is simply the default tiering-policy value of a volume. But if it's not on a FabricPool enabled aggregate that's not really relevant.
