What is the reason for cluster size limitations with AFF C30, FAS50 and some other newer controllers?

Most of us are simply guessing. Many production clusters with low end platforms typically don’t go beyond 4-6 nodes.
It’s likely testing. Hasn’t been done (yet). historical reminder: when The fas2720 when it came out was in the same situation

Yeah, it's probably not a serious technical reason that's behind those limits. Especially since you can easily exceed the limity by filing an fPVR

Would be nice to get actual info instead of just guessing 🙂 I think originally when C30 was released, there was no mention about cluster size limitation but later there was.

again, if you need to create a larger cluster, you can file an fPVR and get it supported
