how can I temporarily disable (pause) a share? Or can I rename a share to something like share_DONOTUSE? The only thing I have found so far is to delete the share and re-create it

Change the share permissions to Everyone/No_access

from experience, permissions is faster/easier
SLAG takes a while to fully/correctly put in place.
But, no, there isn't a way to pause or rename a share after it is created.

You "CAN" unmount the volume the share is on, but if there are more than one share it will break them all.
Once you're done with whatever you're doing, mount it to the same path and all the shares will be back in place

Unmounting the volume will not stop clients from accessing it. Existing sessions will be able to keep accessing it. You would need to set it offline to affect existing sessions
