Hi. We have just implemented a 2-site, 8-node StorageGRID (6160) solution which is used for FabricPool.

We have a monitoring team that would like to set up hardware monitoring.

We currently use Zabbix for hardware monitoring. Is there any good NetApp documentation on how to set up SANtricity REST API/authentication so that data can be extracted that way, or perhaps other, better methods that we might not be aware of?

also works for the BMC interface which is probably a bit closer to hardware monitoring thatn the Grid OS

How do we set up authentication for the SANtricity REST API on the StorageGRID nodes themselves? Should this be done via the central StorageGRID management web UI, or directly on the individual nodes?
Can we change the password for the "monitor" user on the SANtricity nodes ourselves, or is this controlled by StorageGRID?
Can we enable Access Tokens on the SANtricity nodes, or is there something we should be aware of here?
As far as we can tell, NetApp Harvest only collects information from StorageGRID about tenants, buckets, and general usage, but not hardware information. Is there an existing tool available for collecting hardware information from StorageGRID?

Harvest can add hardware information if we can find a way to collect it 🙂 Let me see if any of the existing REST APIs include hardware information

I don't see much available - there's a private API for BMC config info, /private/grid-config Retrieves the configuration for grid options. If anyone knows of an API that provides the info, Harvest can add it

I think our monitor team is more interesting how we can collect hardware status out of SG via. SNMP. in the best way.

try the two links I posted above. They tell you how to set up SNMP

The two links also support HW monitoring disk/nics errors.... ?
