I am in the process of migration from our A700 to a fresh A90 and wanted to know, how full I can fill my aggregates before I start getting performance impacts.
I found the following Forum post, which states around 95%: https://community.netapp.com/t5/ONTAP-Discussions/Recommended-aggregate-free-space-for-AFF-models/m-p/438207
Is this information:

  1. correct?
  2. still up to date?

Thanks 🙂

I would not fill up any system to more than 80% regularly, for the simple reason that those remaining 5% can fill up pretty quickly depending on the workload (think dozens of servers installing big patches, filling up snapshot space), and by Murphy's Law it happens when you're out-of-office for a week and nobody is actively monitoring it.
When the aggregate is completely full, you're in real trouble.
So yeah, while there might not be a strict technical reason not to go to 95% or even more on an AFF, I still wouldn't do it.
