Hi Everyone,

I want to ask, is there possible if i want to use LDAP Authentication for CIFS Share without using Active Directory server? Because our customer are planning to take out the Active Directory server but still using the LDAP Authentication for accessing CIFS Share folder, please give your advice if it is possible or not.

I'm pretty sure that's not possible, since the user's password is not usually stored in LDAP (unless you have configured your DC to synchronize the passwords, which is insecure and not recommended)

That means if i want to use LDAP Authentication, Active Directory is a required, is that right?

AD is an LDAP provider, if you want to use LDAP you have to have something providing that service. If not AD then another provider
not sure what netapp supports without looking it up.
