Hi Team, I am assisting someone who bought a second hand 2 node A800 system. I configured the system, but when I want to create a volume, I get the folloiwng error: "Error: command failed: Key manager is not configured on the cluster." The following boot settings apply:
bootarg.keymanager.support false
bootarg.uses_external.keymanager false
bootarg.uses_internal.keymanager false
on both nodes.
From within ONTAP -
security key-manager show
No key managers configured.

security key-manager onboard show-backup
Error: show failed: The Onboard Key Manager is not configured for the admin Vserver.

We do not want to use volume encryption as it is not needed. Is there a setting I am missing perhaps?

you could probably just remove the VE (Volume Encryption) license (make sure that you have the key somewhere in case you want to re-install it later).
Or set an option that disables encryption for new volumes

Okay - the license was removed and the second option used - still get the same error

#

Should I perhaps remove the SVM and re-create it> - Okay - I did that and nothing changed - any other suggestions? Do anyone know if there are perhaps any other boot settings that can have an impact on this?

@bright quartz what is the output of "version -v"?

Is it possible someone placed the NODAR version of ONTAP on the system with VE? In which case, removing the VE license might help
