#FAS2820 replacement

I think the answer to that is a pretty confident "yes", even without knowing any NDA roadmaps. There have always been replacement systems for systems that went EOA in the past, and I see no reason why this should change now. As for the specs of that replacement model, that's purely speculation of course, but the EOS/EOA dates of the 2820 are still so far in the future that they're not even announced yet 🙂
Thanks @summer ruin
my guess is something like a FAS20 or FAS30 will pop up, but again that is pure speculation at this point 🙂
Agreed here also. I don’t have have knowledge and this is pure speculation. The 2820 is relatively new and performs very well for the lowest end. It is not very configurable. It has a mezzanine card with up to 12 internal drives. If I’m not mistaken The other newer platforms have pcie slots for expansion. Two of the “internal” slots I think are used for flash cache. All drives are otherwise external. More configurable. More $$$
The 2xxx series hasn't had PCIe expansion ever AFAIK.
FAS2220 had PCIe cards. Not with the standard cardedge connector though, but still PCIe
Oh and the 2050 of course also had a single regular PCIe slot. Almost forgot about this one
@round path The 22xx had a single mezzanine slot (8Gb FC or 10GbE) per PCM. The 25xx, 26xx, and 27xx did not offer mezzanine slot support.
