Hello,

at the official Snapcenter website I fail to see a recommended and/or compability matrix for specific ONTAP versions.

For example Snapcenter 5.0 is supported for ONTAP 9.8 or later. But which Version is recommended for ONTAP 9.15? And which Snapcenter Version is not supported anymore for 9.15?

In my case the more specific question would be: is snapcenter 5.0 (with service pack 2) still recommended for ONTAP 9.16?

Thank you in advance!

That’s probably in the interoperability matrix

"recommended" is difficult I think. Usually, NetApp documentation only shows what is supported, not what is recommended (except for Support Bulletin SU2 but that is only for ONTAP itself).
It basically depends on what features you need/want. If SC5 has everything you need, you can continue using it until it is no longer supported. But SC6 adds some features like support for Postgres and DB2, so if you need that you should probably go the 6.x route

The question is, when is SC5 unsupported? because theoretically SC 4.5 is still supported (there is no unsopprted date; only a supported date since ONTAP 8.3

for when a software version isn't supported, check the version support page.
https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/info/version-support#svsp

Product Version End of Full Support End of Version Support
SnapCenter 4.5.x 22-Sep-2022 22-Sep-2023
SnapCenter 5.x 10-Mar-2025 30-Jan-2026

snapcenter 4.5 is eovs (ie, unsupported) since 2023
snapcenter 5.x has reached end of full support and will be eovs next year

Compatibility between snapcenter and ONTAP would be the interoperability matrix as tmac stated.
