Can anyone clarify what the exact changes are between the A400 and the A400 VER2? We have a customer who is planning on re-initializing his A400 as a MetroCluster, and he is considering buying the second cluster + iWARP cards, but his existing system is the old A400 while the new one would be a VER2. Is such a config supported? I can't find any infos on A400-vs-A400VER2 interoperability on the HWU

IIRC - manufacturer changed

I have a few A400 v.1's and my understanding of the differences between v.1 and v.2 was after COVID, NetApp could not secure various chips and used a different provider. This changed the PCIe ID's and drivers, requiring newer versions of ONTAP to support these changes. If your customer isn't running an old codebase before the change that includes the new hardware support, should work.

Ugh, I’m not sure what was decided. There was going to be seperate SKUs for A400VER2 boards for metrocluster and those without

#

It’s not just a different manufacturer of the boards, so chips change or are omitted

@plucky flax can you clarify?
