As far as I know it was nothing but trouble anyway? 😉 Thankfully I have only been using Nexus as of now... but I think there shoule be a Broadcom model if you want to save a bit of $...
there is a 12port nexus replacement; don't know the pricing but hopefully not too bad
I’m hearing the nexus 9336c-fx2-t is considerably less in cost.
Yep as long as you don't buy it from NetApp 🙂
Wdym? Netapp sales is mostly indirect. That switch I believe when discounted through NetApp will be comparable or better than the bes
One would think so, but not what we have seen... sold a MCC-IP with Cisco switches and the customer ended up buying the switches them self... also NetApp was unable to provide Cisco LR optics...
So it's not like in the "old" days where there was a link from "Now" to Cisco or Brocade... now you have to setup your own Cisco account and spend way too much time just to get the latest IOS etc.. so yes NetApp are able to sell you the switches, but they sell them as any other reseller, or as least this is what we have learned lately...
first quotes we did as a test showed the 12-port switch at something like 50%-70% of the cost of the "full" switch, depending on service and service run time. So it's not a bad deal I think
it goes even further: if you buy the switches elsewhere (say, from Cisco directly), and buy the same support level and all, and use the same OS version and RCF files on the switch, NetApp still won't support your config 😄
but of cause ... it's a totally different switch 😉
