the AFF C30 can do both block and file.
It's so much more than a "backup appliance" and it breaks my heart to hear it get categorized that way. 😦
Riverbed, Avamar, those are "backup appliances." They do ONE thing. This is an all-flash POWERHOUSE that does multi-protocol storage across SAN, NAS, and object, all on the same box with some of the best data mgmt and data protection features on the planet. Sure, you can also send your backups to it, just like any other workload. But it's the coolest Leatherman multi-tool in your datacenter. ❤️
I've seen customers use backup systems for DEV/QA. Primary backs up to the "Backup box". and then flexclones are used to present the data to DEV/QA systems.
