Hi

I am not keen into netapp storage but netapp is a contender in a rfp we have for a backup applience, using snaplock or something to do backups on storage. We use FC SAN so is this c30 a block or file storage? Is it any good as a backup applience or what is its best use, with nvme disks

the AFF C30 can do both block and file.

It's so much more than a "backup appliance" and it breaks my heart to hear it get categorized that way. 😦

Riverbed, Avamar, those are "backup appliances." They do ONE thing. This is an all-flash POWERHOUSE that does multi-protocol storage across SAN, NAS, and object, all on the same box with some of the best data mgmt and data protection features on the planet. Sure, you can also send your backups to it, just like any other workload. But it's the coolest Leatherman multi-tool in your datacenter. ❤️

I've seen customers use backup systems for DEV/QA. Primary backs up to the "Backup box". and then flexclones are used to present the data to DEV/QA systems.
