The goal is to replace all of the existing disks with v2 disks, but you can't do this without creating a new deployment. Which is rather absurd to me. The number of times we have had to build a new deployment and migrate to it almost made our management team ditch NetApp completely, telling them we have to do so again might be the tipping point.
I would like to think there is a way to create a new aggregate via API/etc, without BXP, telling the system to use v2 disks and then just empty an exising aggregate onto that new one. Or, add a new disk to an existing aggregate that is v2 and remove an old disk. Rinse and repeat until all the old disks are upgraded to v2.
However, looking over the API, it doesn't look like adding a different disk type to an existing aggregate is an option.
Thoughts? hopeful ideas?
