#Default user Quotas question

Evening all,

A few years ago we got a FAS 2720 with Ontap 8.x. Over the last few years we have gradually upgraded to OnTap 9. One thing i noticed when we migrated peoples home directories over to this filer, when i set a default quota for all users on their volume to say 2gb, the quota report screen now shows every user with a 2GB quota as an entry, but in 7-mode we never saw an entry unless they had an explicit quota created over and and above the default value.

For some reason this appears to be showing me a quota entry for every user for the default value, even if they have an empty home directory (which most have due to OneDrive and FSLogix being in place) this currently equates to over 100k entries......which is even weirder because we don't even have 100k users and shared folders combined.

Is it possible to have the old system of just showing an "All Users" entry for each volume and the default quota for the volume without showing every single users quota.

Cheers

I think you may be mistaken. The 2720 never supported ONTAP 8.

Too many numbers to keep track. But yes you’re correct we started in an early version of 9

I remember there was a bug that resulted in many duplicate quota entries being displayed... but the fact that every user will be on the list will still remain

Is there a fix for this? Im running 9.15.1RC2. For example here are my default quotas:

And an example of users of one of the volumes (called home) showing an entry for every user with 5mb quota even though they are using 0% and 0 Bytes
