I am currently tasked with upgrading 12 old E2812 or (E5712 as this is a StorageGRID)... I went from 11.30 to 11.70 to 11.80.1R3... and it now complains about EOL Cache Battery Module. I think this is a "timer" introduced on the newer FW? I don't think it has disabled the cache, but it does complain a lot...
Another issue is the disk fw upgrade we would like to do with the 4TB disks "HUS726040ALS214" which has the MS00 firmware and the latest is the MS03, but it will not let us upgrade, just telling us that this is the wrong firmware we are trying to upload... which is a bit strange? (we tried both versions, signed and non-signed)... nothing seems to work... any help? I guess I will be opening a support case to get the batteries replaced.. hopefully they will ship 12 pcs. so I don't have to open 12 cases 😉

I've got the same issue with the drive firmware not letting us update on that model too!
