One of our customers has a storagegrid with a lot of SG5712 nodes which consists of th E2812 Simplex controller... They have forgot their admin password... apparently you need to open a case with NetApp support to reset the pwd.. I was thinking I would spare NetApp support if it is just a matter of hookig up a serial connection and booting into some diag mode or something like that? So if someone has a guide, that would be helpful... 🙂
#Santricity admin password reset?

...of cause as I write this, they just found their admin password 😉 But the process may be useful to know?
There is a KB about this: https://kb.netapp.com/on-prem%2FE-Series%2FManagement-Apps-KBs%2FHow_to_reset_SANtricity_System_Manager_local_admin_password_starting_with_11_40_2_code.
You will need to contact NetApp Support to get the details of the steps if you dont have a partner login.
I am a partner but still cannot open your link.. typical 🙂
...so if you were to loose your password, and if you didn't have support, the only way would be to reset the node and reinstall? Just for future reference 🙂 Thankfully the customer found their password...
KB should work for you, it is public. All I can say is maybe it stealth logged you out?
fixing the slashes:

The KB isn't that usable as it just tells you to create a support case 😉 but OK...
it has a section for partners in it with the procedure, but yeah, if you only have end-user access it is not very helpful I agree.
Basically: log in via serial as spri user and use option 3 to reset the password
I guess it's hidden for end users because it contains the password for the spri account, but a simple google search will tell you the same 🤷♂️
If you're a partner, and don't have partner KB access, that sounds like something to talk to customer service about
🙂
Hmm strange we are a preferred netapp partner, so maybe I need to open a non-technical case in order to ensure I have the correct access. There have been issues where from one day to another NetApp changed my access so I wasn't able to see any of my customers systems... maybe they didn't fix that issue correctly...
The challange would be to explain to NetApp which specific access I need 😉 I can try to expain to them that with this KB I should be able to see more than I currecntly do...
