Hi Everyone,

Does anyboard experience trouble accessing a CIFS share on a Windows XP client? It was working fine previously until suddenly we cannot access on the share. We tried to access it on a different PC (WIN 7 and 10) with the same user accounts and it was accessible. It seems that windows XP cannot access on the share.

We already tried checking the SMB allowed version and SMB1 is still enabled across.

Note: It was an old system which was not upgraded that is why it still runs on Win XP. There might be plans to upgrade it but not anytime soon.

If it is domain access I’m surprised it lasted this long. There are a number of security updates that have been applied that were never ported back to win7 and xp.

#

Newer versions of ONTAP also get more secure and an ONTAP upgrade may have stopped access

also make sure that you're using Kerberos and not NTLM on the XP client

Also maybe someone did hardening and disabled SMB 1.0 on netapp or in AD.

Or updated delivery controllers and hardened Netlogon
