#Hourly snapshot shedule only works on some volumes...

Very strange issue... we have about 30 volumes on an A300 running 9.13.1.P2 (I know this is getting old)... last week, for some unknown reason, most of the volumes stopped creating their hourly snapshots.
We have changed the "default" cluster policy to only create hourly snapshots 48 pcs. The policy is not disabled. And some of the volumes (5-6 pcs) still works OK... The volumes are not full.. the aggregates are not full... there are no apparent errors in the event log... we can only see the snaphots that are created OK at 05 min. past the hour... We are able to create new manual snapshots on the volumes affected... they have no snapmirror relationship.. the system is not running any heavy workloads... is this just a question of rebooting ONTAP and possible update it? (uptime is about 300 days).... update: we have tried to disable and re-enable the snapshots policy, with no luck... 😦

...this is apparently a known issue... "1602646 - Scheduled snapshots stopped working in 9.13.1"...

vol restrict instead of vol offline might help. We always try to restrict volumes instead of offlining them (at least if they can't be outright deleted), because offline volumes have a few issues here and there (e.g. during ONTAP update). The effect is the same, they are not accessible by clients

If I'm reading this right, don't have any offline FlexVols.

To be honnest I'm not 100% this is the issue... we don't have any volumes offline... we had a volume offline because we had to delete it.. apparently it breaks the snapshots... and no errors in the event logs at all 😉

Make sure all the vols are actually using the snapshot policy in the admin-SVM and not from their own SVM. Not 100% sure but I think you can actually use the same name (or at least there was one version/bug where you could).

Couldn't hurt to upgrade to fix that anyway.
