#killing volume full messages for k8s!

Question about alerting (and stopping it). Customer has a large number of volumes created using trident/k8s. A number of those volumes are purposefully full or nearly full. Unfortunately, since they are full or nearly full, ONTAP reports them.

Is there any way to have trident set the “-space-nearly-full-threshold-percent” or “-space-full-threshold-percent” during their creation? Or does someone need to go in after the fact and change them?

I think you can edit the alert settings in AIQUM. You'd have to remove the default "All Error Events" and manually add every other error you would like to see. Not sure if SystemManager lets you do the same.

I just looked at events, opened one, and clicked the "Alert Settings" link. That opens a dialog that lets you manage what errors get flagged.

Not worried about those. No AIQUM. Referring only to the EMS alerts by ONTAP

Just checked SystemManager, and it only lets you edit user-defined EMS alerts.

and in diag mode, the -space-nearly-full-threshold-percent isn't an option when creating a volume. They are only vol modify options

Exactly my point. AFAIK there is no way to tell ONTAP to not worry about the volume size alerts without going back and modifying volumes. With the way volumes area created and destroyed frequently it sounds like this should be an option to prevent alerting

is it relevant for you whether you can create snapshots (for backups i.e.) or not in this context? a full pvc/volume means snapshot creation fails as well...

...most likelyt, becayse the pvs often are so small that snapshot reserve is a joke as well
