Quick question, we have noticed the NS224 shelf IDs on the cluster ( C400 with 2 x NS224 ) have not been set to those in the design doc - they are currently set to 0 & 1 and our standard is 10,20,30 etc per stack While I know it will require the controllers to be reset, fortunately they are base configured with only e0M and root aggs , can someone advise the order of steps to reset the system and adjust the shelf ID ( basically take the controller back to having come out the box ).
Thanks
#C400 and NS224 Shelves with incorrect Shelf ID
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
- shut down both controllers (
node halt * -inhibit-takeover true) - use the buttons on the shelves to set the desired shelf ID
- power off the shelves, wait 30 seconds, and power them back on
- boot both controllers
steps 1 and 2 can be switched around if you want to
Thanks and ONTAP will just detect the new shelf ID without any messing around with disk ownership?
yep. as the name implies, disk ownership is stored on the disks themselves. As long as ONTAP sees the disks anywhere, it will be fine
-> power off shelf and WAIT at least 30 seconds. Removing power or flipping the switch does not immediately shut it down. there is destaging that happens. Wait for that finish before powering back on!
