#Windows Explorer Shows wrong Quota Value

For some users, the Home-Share Quota (max and used size) shows values of the volume instead of the Quota. Note that the volume size is in any case larger than the Quota size. So the known issue "quota disk limit size reflected on Windows OS is not correct" on kb.netapp.com does not apply.

Why does this occur and how can we fix this indication error?

I tried reinitializing the quota and increasing the volume sizes.

are you sure the users' home directory are actually qtrees and not regular directories? If they are regular directories, you cannot apply quota policies to them and then the user will inherit the quota of the whole volume

The are dynamic home-shares, we have about 5000 of those. They have always shown the correct quota and still do. Only some of them show the volume size instead.

Can you check if one of those homedirs that does not show the correct size is maybe a directory instead of a qtree?

Thank you for your help Darkstae! All of them are created identically. Distributed over 10 different volumes.

I managed to solve the problem by reinitializing the quota and increasing the volume size manually in order tio increase the buffer to get rid of snapshot space overflow. One of those 2 attempts worked. I'm not too sure which one. I will try to reproduce the error.

it was probably the uninitialized quota then
