It seems if you mount a "Datastore"\Volume with NFS V4 in VMware you do not get visibility .snapshot folder.

From reading its still there just not displayed

https://kb.netapp.com/on-prem/ontap/da/NAS/NAS-KBs/Why_isnt_the_snapshot_directory_visible_in_an_ls_al_output_on_an_NFS_client.

So when you view\browse the Datastore and the Files its not listed so you can not click into it.

I need to restore the NetApp SnapCenter for VMware as it is corrupted but i can not seem to do it from vCenter.

Any ideas ?

in the volumes property, do you have the 'enable' box checked for making it visible?

yes

#

its a 100% NFS 4 thing

#

and i cannot mount it again a NFS3 as VMware will not allow that

oye, never had the problem.
But that article says you can still access the directory, you just don't see it. which is odd

100% no .snapshot on NFSv4 mounted

#

i have a NFS v3 and its there

yea. the note says you wont see it, but you can still access it. which seems strange, no idea why you can't see it listed

ok i have managed a workaround.. brain not thinking today.. i took a flex clone of the snapshot in ONTAP made a clone volumed. mounted that into vCenrter with NFS 3 and .snapshot is there.. Now the copy out of the clone back to the NFS4 datastore, once done ill re-import VM using vCenter..

that seems like a major headache to get to the data.
Could you not access the directory by name directly as the doc stated?

I dont have a vmware system anymore to do any testing with (thanks broadcom)
