Can you tell me about your past experience and how to deal with reducing the size of AWS FSx ONTAP Audit logs?
The customer's requirement is that logs from the past 3 months are immediately viewable (retained for 1 year).
Current my thinking is that it is possible to configure data transfer from FSx ONTAP to S3 using DataSync, so logs from the past 3 months should be stored within FSx, and logs older than 3 months should be stored in S3. I'm considering it.
If you have any other ideas for capacity reduction or countermeasures based on past experience, it would be helpful if you could let us know.

Hi, do you have ssd and capacity tiers in FSx Ontap ? if so and your logs are sitting on ssd, you can use tiering after x amount of days to capacity tier.
Post-process compression and deduplication are not applied to the capacity pool tier.
To reduce capacity, it is effective to use deduplication/compression functions and transfer data to S3 using DataSync.
Thank you for your reply and information.
or just use a different tiering policy that only tiers data out after it has been compressed/deduplicated
